You can use almond milk, or any kind of non-dairy milk for your mac and cheese. This is a common practice for those how have dairy or lactose sensitivities.

Almond milk is made from almonds and water mainly, sometimes there is vanilla, and proteins added to help preserve it. Because of this, it is not as nutritious as cow’s milk as lacks some proteins. However, almond milk is full of natural vitamins and minerals, especially Vitamin E. Vitamin E helps prevent heart disease and supports your immune system. Because it has a similar consistency to milk, it’s one of the most used milk alternatives for the dish.


If you use unsweetened almond milk, it should not have a much different taste then regular milk. Some may like the taste of some vanilla, so they should use vanilla almond milk. This will make it a bit sweeter of a taste, which is a preference with some people.


You can use any milk you prefer in your macaroni and cheese; this includes almond milk. Almond milk is a great substitute for someone who doesn’t have or cannot consume normal milk. It has an extremely similar consistency and won’t change the flavor if you use unsweetened almond milk.
